NASA Was Already Exploring Space…
By the time scientists would finally agree on plate tectonics in 1967, NASA was already exploring outer space. Alfred Wegener proposed his theory of continental drift in 1912, but geologists didn’t take him seriously. Wegener couldn’t explain the force behind continental drift, and he was only found to be right after his death in 1930.
Only in 1967 did the theory of plate tectonics get accepted by the scientific community. And by then, NASA and the Soviet Union were already exploring above and beyond the earth. They were launching rockets into space and about to land on the moon.
