Brad and Janet Were Replaced
Richard O’Brien and Jim Sharman really wanted to keep the movie as similar to the stage show as possible. They wanted you to experience the stage show in the form of a film. Not only did most of the cast stay the same, but they kept most of the same creative team. Of course, there were a few roles that were changed out for the movie, and this includes Brad and Janet.

The original Brad and Janet really wanted to keep their roles, but studio executives at Fox had a different idea. They thought it would be better for the film if there were two US actors in the parts. It’s too bad they didn’t get to continue on to the film, but Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon were great as Brad and Janet. Besides for them and a few others, Meat Loaf got to make a cameo appearance in the film.
