The Red Jacket Predicament
The polite phrase, “May I take your coat?” takes on an entirely different meaning in the movie scene where the bright red jacket that Julia Roberts is wearing was literally taken from a random, unsuspecting pedestrian on the street in exchange for $30 in cash – that, too, right before the scene was shot.

Vivian’s symbolic attire comprised of a mini-dress, thigh-high black boots, blonde wig, and a red jacket. But then something happened, and the red jacket from the wardrobe that was specifically made for Roberts was nowhere to be found at the time of shooting the scene. The panicked crew was then made to scramble and find a new one in time for the scene; they bought it off from someone walking down the street outside the studio.
