Julia Roberts’ Southern Roots
Julia Roberts was still a newbie to the film industry, and that’s probably why her southern Georgia accent was still pretty strong. Usually, it takes actresses quite some time to get rid of the accent when acting out roles. But for Roberts, there was no time, and she had to gear up pretty quickly because filming had started, and she had to cover up all signs of her southern roots for the character.

Producers were worried that her southern accent would show through in the movie. So to cover it up, they sneaked in a line saying that Vivian was from Georgia. Pretty interesting, huh? That just goes to show how much actors can influence the storyline and the characters they play.
