Saying “I Do”
Richard Gere was initially quite reluctant to sign on for the film, Pretty Woman. Gary Marshall took his time deciding who he wanted to be cast as Edward Lewis, but once he did, there was no going back for him. But even though Gary asked Richard many times, he turned down the offer every time. But Gary really wanted Richard to play Edward, and for that reason, he brought in his trump card: Julia Roberts.

Marshall knew that Richard would love the charismatic Roberts. While the two were meeting each other, Richard got a call from Gary; while he was on the line, Roberts held up a post-it note in front of him, which said, “Please say yes.” And so, say yes, he did.
