Her Funny Bone Was Not Tickled – Or Was It?
Despite being an incredible actress with a number of awards to boot, Julia Roberts still finds it very difficult to laugh convincingly for the cameras. In the shooting for Pretty Woman, Vivian was supposed to laugh out loud while watching I Love Lucy, but Roberts found it very hard to do that in a manner that seemed genuine to the audience.

Since she was struggling with acting amused, Gary Marshall positioned himself in such a way that he was able to tickle Julia’s feet off-camera, making her laugh loudly and uncontrollably. However, her most genuine laughter was filmed in improvised scenes with Richard Gere in which a smile came to her lips naturally. Just more evidence to support the fact that the two were very comfortable around each other and had great chemistry.
