A Happy Ending
In one scene, Vivian talks about her childhood and says that she used to pretend that she was part of a fairytale. In her words, she would be “trapped in a tower by a wicked queen. And then suddenly this knight… on a white horse with these colors flying would come charging up and draw his sword. And I would wave. And he would climb up the tower and rescue me.”

This line was scripted and filmed before the ending of the film had been decided. So when Vivian did eventually end up with her white knight who rescued her from her previous life, it was like a self-fulfilling prophecy – one that she had accurately predicted somewhere deep down inside.
