Discovering The Secrets of Hawaii’s Forbidden Island – The Ni’ihau

An Island Stuck In A Time Capsule

There’s no denying the beauty of Ni’ihau. Its sandy beaches and warm shores are a treat to one’s eyes. Unfortunately, that is only as far as one can go. It’s been decades since the island has had any contact with the outside world – almost as if it’s been stuck in a time capsule.

The residents of the island continue to follow the tradition of their ancestors. They continue to hunt, gather stock and fish to keep themselves fed, still relying on ancient methods of survival. Today, the preservation of the island can be credited to none other than Elizabeth McHutchison who recognized its significance back in the 1800s.
