Founders Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner of Waffle House launched their business in 1955, on Labor Day Weekend. They were located at 2719 East College Avenue, Avondale Estates, which is currently a museum. Of course, the restaurant was named after the most demanded item on its menu.
