Dunkin’ Donuts Opened Its First Location in Quincy, Massachusetts
A founder named William Rosenberg opened a simple coffee and donuts shop in Quincy, Massachusetts, back in 1948. He decided on the name ‘Dunkin’ Donuts’ in 1950. William began franchising in 1955. In 1963 his 25-year-old son Robert became the CEO and the 100th restaurant also opened that same year.
Fun fact: Changed their franchise name in 2019.
Baskin-Robbins’ holding company bought Dunkin’ Donuts in 1990. In 2019, the doughnut chain was then renamed to Dunkin, with the main focus of it being a beverage company.
