The Ordnung: An Unwritten Code of Behavior
It comes as no surprise to hear that the Amish live by a strict set of rules. Those rules are known as the Ordnung , and it basically dictates their entire way of life. While the Amish draw their religious guidelines from the Bible, the Ordnung is an unwritten code of conduct.

But the Ordnung differs depending on the region, just like the dialects. Depending on the Amish community, some are a lot stricter than others. What links the different Ordnungs is the emphasis on modesty and humility.
