Surviving the Great Depression
It’s no secret that back in the 1930s, it was difficult for a lot of companies to make ends meet, and Harley Davidson was no exception. To survive the stock market crash in 1929, Harley Davidson decided to cut costs and their workforce. Sadly, their efforts didn’t make much of a difference.
Luckily, things were finally able to change once they made a deal with the Japanese company Sanko. Apparently, the international markets and the agreement with the Japanese factory were essential in allowing Harley Davidson to remain in business to this day.
