The Origins of the Legendary All-American Brand: Harley Davidson

The Legendary Engine Idea

For many years, Harley Davidsons were synonymous with the V-twin engine. In case you don’t know much about motorcycles, this basically means that the engine includes two cylinders that are used for inter combustion and create a V shape. The V-twin engine was first introduced in 1909 and has been a vital part of the Harley Davidson brand ever since.

What’s interesting, however, is that they didn’t come up with the idea. Harley Davidson stole it from a competing brand called Indian Motorcycle. They decided to stick with it instead of coming up with their own ideas. Obviously, it worked out well for them, but it doesn’t really seem fair.
