Hollywood’s Golden Couple: Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward

“Just Friends”

Remember, at the time, Newman was a family man. He had a wife, three kids, and seemed content with his life. Once he met Woodward, his feelings changed, but it was still a major issue. Newman didn’t want to break up his entire family. Newman and Woodward thought it would be best to stay friends, and the duo kept in touch.

It was in 1957 when the two actors reconnected to film The Long Hot Summer. Their undeniable chemistry was evident on and off the screen. At that point, Jackie Witte agreed to a divorce, and Newman didn’t waste any time. He tied the knot with the gorgeous blonde on January 29th, 1958, and then went to Connaught Hotel in London for their honeymoon.
