Fun Facts: After the contents of their house are being confiscated, Otter (Tim Matheson) throws Bluto a bottle of Jack Daniels. Bluto drinks the entire bottle and smashes it off the car behind him. But, if you look closely, there’s already broken glass on the car which indicates that several takes were done.

Matheson had well-known roles both before and since ‘Animal House.’ He played Vice President John Hoynes on the series The West Wing (1999), which earned him two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Best Guest Star in a Drama Series. When he auditioned for Animal House, the producers wanted him to play a no-nonsense Omega. But he adamantly refused, saying, “I’m tired of playing it straight,” and asked for a role as one of the hard-partying Deltas.
