Time to Search the Attic! These Vintage Toys Are Worth A Lot More Than You Think

Pokémon Cards

Pokémon cards were another highly popular collectible among kids. The cards were released in 1996, and it started a whole fad of obsessive collecting. They were first published in Japan. Some Pokémon cards are worth thousands, mostly if they’re rare and were kept in good condition. The holographic “Mewtwo” card is going for $11,997, and other cards can go for a similar value.

Pokémon cards facts: there are over 600 species of Pokémon and more than 11,000 unique Pokémon card types, but the amount varies based on different interpretations of the “sets.” There is a tiny symbol on the bottom right-hand corner of the card, which will let you know the rarity of that card. A circle means it’s common, a diamond means it’s uncommon, and a star means it’s rare.
