Harriet the Tortoise and Charles Darwin

Harriet the Tortoise died In 2006 and she saw Charles Darwin in person. Charles Darwin collected Harriet the tortoise during his visit to the Galápagos Islands in 1835. It was part of his around-the-world voyage.

Harriet was transported to England, and then brought to Australia. The tortoise was estimated to be 175 years old by the time she died. And where did she die? In Steve Irwin’s zoo! Yup.
