Bonnie and Clyde: The Original ‘Ride or Die’ Couple

Different Life

As the fifth of seven children, Clyde came from a pretty big family. They didn’t have much money, but they were close to each other. The Barrows initially ran a farm, but thanks to a drought, the business wasn’t going so well. That’s when the family moved to Dallas.

Clyde actually really wanted to enlist in the US Navy. Unfortunately, he was turned down for medical reasons, probably because he suffered from malaria and yellow fever when he was a kid. Clyde didn’t take the rejection well. He already got “USN” tattooed on his body, which made getting turned down even more disappointing. Every time he looked down at his arm, he was reminded of his crushed dreams.
