The Donny & Marie Show
Things changed in 1976 when the family started producing The Donny & Marie Show, a TV program that became an instant hit. But their transition to TV came at a cost. The family was running up enormous bills for the studio that they themselves built. Not to mention that they basically abandoned their lucrative music career.
Donny & Marie aired on ABC from 1976 to 1979, which starred the brother-and-sister pop duo, Donny and Marie Osmond. Donny was already popular from singing in the music group with his brothers, but Marie now had the chance to shine as well. With their song Paper Roses, Marie was one of the youngest singers to reach #1 on the Billboard country music charts.
