A Date Was Set
Reynolds learned that the amount of cash would be greater after a bank holiday (the next being on August 5, 1963). So he tapped into an insider, later known in the media as the “Ulsterman,” to find out which day the train will be bringing the cash to London.
And thus, the date was set. Reynolds had everything – his men, information about the train and a date – except for one important thing. He needed to figure out one last detail: how to actually stop the train.
