As it turns out, none of the torpedo bombers made any hits. Ferrier’s bomber plane was the only one of Torpedo Squadron 8 to make it out intact. And Ferrier lived to tell his account of the event.

Only four out of the 41 American carrier torpedo planes came back. Ferrier and the other attackers’ bravery and determination made a real impression on the Japanese who witnessed the whole thing.
