Not All Unicorns and Rainbows
The original movie, before Disney took over production, was supposed to be called 3000 and had a much darker, more realistic premise. Although those scenes eventually didn’t make it to the movie, Julia Roberts did actually film some of them. One of the scenes involved Vivian getting chased by dealers, after which Edward had to come and save her from them.

That’s not even all – Vivian’s language was a lot more colorful in the original script, to the point that it had to be watered down quite a bit for the movie. But well, it was a Disney movie after all; what else could you expect? Because even though the movie is meant for adults, someone has to think of the children.
