The Creator Tried to Ruin Wrath of Khan
‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’ was over-budget and didn’t do so well. So Paramount removed Gene Roddenberry as Executive Producer and brought in Nicholas Meyer and Harve Bennett to do the sequel, ‘The Wrath of Khan.’ But Leonard Nimoy was sick of playing his character and wanted out. Thus, Spock was to be killed off early on.

But “somehow” the script was leaked, and fans had a nervous breakdown. The source of the leak wasn’t revealed, but the cast and crew accepted that Gene did it. Apparently, he wanted to sabotage the project. In the end, things were rearranged, and it made the movie even better.
