Not so Realistic Star Dates
The stardates that Kirk mentions in his captain’s log every week in TOS are not based on current Gregorian calendar dates. TOS stardates were mostly random and created simply to let the audiences know that the show took place in the future. Later Star Trek shows tried to be more consistent with stardates.
