Richard Dean Anderson After MacGyver
After shooting the series’ two follow-up movies, Anderson moved on from MacGyver. He starred as Jack O’Neill in ‘Stargate SG-1’ from 1997 to 2005. Anderson didn’t even have to fight for the role; the president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer personally asked him if he wanted a part in the series.

Anderson is also quite charitable. He’s a huge supporter of the Special Olympics and spoke at events, including the 1991 opening ceremonies. He also supports the Make-a-Wish Foundation and various Sclerosis organizations. He’s a part of several environmental groups, too. He generally works less these days as he’d rather play the best role a man can play – being a great dad to his daughter.
