The Big Bang theory first aired on September 24, 2007. And boy, did it make a bang. The sitcom was a hit from the very beginning, with geeks and cool kids falling in love with the quirky group of science nerds. The sitcom lasted for 12 years and is still going strong. This TV show was revolutionary in that it finally showed the socially-awkward nerds getting the “eligible” girls and not being rejected.
As it goes on many long-running shows where cast members are together for most of the day every day, relationships form, both on and off screen. The most talked about relationship was between Leonard, the experimental physicist, and Penny, the aspiring actress who lives next door. Penny would usually only date tall and muscular men, but she ends up falling in love with Leonard and the two date on and off until they got married.
It’s easy to forget with a show as good as this, that these TV stars are acting and that in real life they have their own relationships. Believe it or not, the TBBT cast are quite different from the characters they portray on screen. And they date all kinds of other celebrities. Let’s see which cast members dated who. And some even dated each other off screen.
Simon plays Howard’s character, an aerospace engineer and former astronaut who’s married to Bernadette. But in real life, Simon married Jocelyn Towne in 2007. Jocelyn’s an actress and did minor roles in movies and TV.
The couple actually worked on a movie together called We’ll Never Have Paris. Simon starred as the lead actor and Jocelyn produced the film. They have two children, a daughter named Adeline and a son named Wilder.
Next, see who Leonard used to date in real life!
Johnny plays Leonard, one of the main characters of the show. While he is a geek, he also manages to land the good looking girls. In the real world, Johnny has quite a track record when it comes to dating.
For those that remember him from Roseanne, he dated one of his on-screen girlfriends, Sara Gilbert for a short period in 1992. Later, Sara came out of the closet.
Kaley is Penny on the show. This blonde star, like her on-screen lover, has had many boyfriends in her real life.
One of her beaus was addiction specialist Josh Resnik. They dated for about a year before getting engaged in October 2011. But they broke up and Kaley moved on to another man not too long after.
Do you know who Sheldon married in real life?
Jim Parsons plays Sheldon Cooper, one of the show’s favorites, who is a genius physicist. Not too long ago, he married his long-time boyfriend Todd Spiewak, who is a graphic designer.
The two had an extravagant wedding at the famous Rainbow Room on the 65th floor of Rockefeller Center in New York. All of their close friends and family joined in on the celebrations, as well as many of Jim’s fellow geeks and co-stars from the show.
Johnny dated Laura Harris, a Canadian actress, back in 1996 for a couple years. The two met while filming Suicide Kings, a mystery crime movie.
Laura was 19 and Johnny was 20 when they were an item. She is now apparently single and acts here and there. Her last role was as Esther in the TV series Whole Day Down.
Next, you can see another ex of Penny. He’s a reggae singer!
Kaley and Brett dated for a year. Their relationship went public when the two were at a Lakers game in March 2012.
Brett is a musician from Hawaii. He’s the lead singer and bassist of a reggae band called Pepper. They broke up a year later and some very intimate paparazzi pictures were released!
John Ross Bowie plays Dr. Kripke. As you know, he’s not the most likable character on the series and is unable to pronounce the letters R or l.
Anyways, in real life, John has played roles in Reno 911! and the Citizens Brigade. He’s married to Jamie Denbo who starred in the Ghostbusters and is a working comedian.
Next, another former lover of Johnny Galecki.
Johnny has yet another relationship to add to the list. The former Roseanne star dates quite a lot.
He dated actress Kelsey Harper who also had some big roles in her past. She has retired, however, and works as a florist. She must have wanted to leave the limelight and pursue something quieter and more peaceful.
Mayim plays Amy Fowler, the neurobiologist, and Sheldon’s girlfriend. The two met online after Raj and Howard see her and think she’ll be a good match for Sheldon.
Mayim was married to Michael Stone. Michael was a Mormon and converted to Judaism for her. The couple had two children together before divorcing.
Next, see who Wil Wheaton is married to!
Will Wheaton plays himself on the show. At first, he didn’t get along with Sheldon and the whole group of friends, but in the end, they became good buddies.
The real Wil rose to fame after playing a role in Stand By Me. His wife is also an actress and played roles in Sharknado and Tabletop.
Brian played Kurt, Penny’s ex-boyfriend in the first season, showing up in a few episodes. You might remember when he stole Leonard and Sheldon’s pants.
He acted in other shows since, like NCIS and CSI. He’s been married to Jill, a bodybuilder, and fitness extraordinaire for over 12 years. These two fitness gurus probably work out together.
Remember the employee who keeps bringing Amy rocks? He’s married to…
Brian plays Bert, an employee in the geology department of the university. Bert, in love with Amy, brings her rocks every day to express his love for her.
Brian also acted in The Sarah Silverman Program and the Dumb and Dumber sequel. His wife is Melanie Truhett, a television producer who worked on Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza. They’ve been married for 15 years and have a son.
Mark’s no rookie in the TV world. Aside from TBBT, he’s appeared in other TV sitcoms, including Will & Grace, Seinfeld, and Boy Meets World.
Mark has been married to actress Spencer Kayden for 15 years now and they have one child together. The couple have been in theater productions together. Spencer is known for her performance in the Broadway show, Urinetown, and for being a former cast member on MADtv.
Let’s add another love interest to Johnny’s past…
Every TBBT fan was thrilled to hear that the two main stars of the show were dating in real life. Leonard and Penny dated both in the show and as Johnny and Kaley from 2008 until 2010.
They really tried to keep their relationship private. Kaley Cuoco said, “It was such a huge part of my life and no one knew about it. It was a wonderful relationship, but we never spoke a word about it and never went anywhere together.”
Kaley Cuoco got engaged to a former professional tennis player, Ryan Sweeting, after dating for only three months. Kaley was sure that he was the one.
Kaley said, “From day one I just knew immediately and it’s been magic.” They married in 2013 but divorced two years later. There were rumors about the divorce three months before it was official, but she denied that.
Next, rumor has it that a Kardashian was involved with one of the cast members.
Torresani played Claire on TBBT. It hasn’t been confirmed, but the one son of the famous Kardashian family was connected to actress Alessandra Torresani in 2011.
The two were spotted together at the Coachella music festival. Since that appearance, rumors started circulating that they were dating. Rob later dated model and former adult dancer, Blac Chyna, and have a baby together, but they broke up.
Johnny Galecki dated Kelli Garner, an actress from the series Pan-Am. The two dated for two years and Johnny even brought Garner to Kaley Cuoco’s wedding.
The couple were seen together a lot at red carpet events. They stayed friends after they ended the relationship. Garner portrayed Marilyn Monroe in the TV miniseries, The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe.
Who dated Alex Jensen in real life? See the next photo to find out.
Margo Harshman played Alex Jensen, a medical student and Sheldon’s assistant from 2012 to 2013. She was really into Leonard if you remember.
Since the show, Margo played a recurring role on the series NCIS. She dated Chris Marquette, an actor, for a couple of years before splitting up. Marquette acted in the movies The Girl Next Door and Fanboys.
Sara Rue portrayed Dr. Stephanie Barnett, Leonard’s girlfriend for a bit before he ended it because he felt things were moving too fast.
Sara Rue married longtime lover Kevin Price, a teacher, in 2011. Unlike many Hollywood couples, the two remain strong. They have two daughters, Talulah who is their biological child and Adelaide who they adopted.
Remember Penny’s father? He has a love life too!
Keith Carradine’s had a short and sweet moment on TBBT. He was seen as Penny’s father Wyatt. Keith comes from a family of actors. His father and four brothers are all actors. Carradine played a role in Fargo and Madam Secretary.
He is married to Hayley DuMond, an actress from House Hunting and The Hunter’s Moon, where the two met. Carradine has three children from former relationships.
Laurie plays Sheldon’s overbearing mother Mary Cooper. You might remember Laurie from her role as Jackie Harris on Roseanne.
In 1993, Laurie married Matt Roth, her Roseanne co-star. He ironically acted as her abusive on-screen boyfriend. They ended up getting divorced in 2014. They have three children together.
Penny’s ex is married in real life. Do you know to who?
Michael played David Underhill, the physicist that Penny dated until she discovered that he was married.
Michael used to have a recurring role on One Tree Hill as Cooper Lee. In 2009, he married Sandra Hess, a Swiss actress, and fashion model. She is best known for her role as Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
Rick Fox plays Glenn, Bernadette’s former professor, and love interest. Rick is a Canadian actor and used to be a basketball team member on the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.
In 1999, he married actress, singer and former Miss America winner, Vanessa Williams. The two have a teenage daughter.
Now, Sara Gilbert is married. Let’s see who she tied the knot with?
Sara, now openly gay, married Linda Perry, a Grammy-nominated rock singer-songwriter. Perry was the lead singer in 4 Non-Blondes, the all-girl rock group from the 90s.
The couple have a child, Rhodes Emilo. He is now two-years-old.
In 2014, word on the street was that Johnny was dating singer Katie Waissel. Katie came in seventh place in the seventh series of The X-Factor UK.
The relationship was never confirmed, but the two were seen on a date at Chateau Marmont. The rumor was that they began dating a short time after she divorced from her husband of two months, model Brian Moote.
Kaley is now married and still in a relationship! Do you know who the lucky guy is?
In 2016, Kaley is currently still in a relationship with Karl Cook. Karl is 27 and works as a professional equestrian.
The couple went public last year after posting a bunch of Instagram pictures together at the ranch with Karl’s horses. Kaley also loves horses and goes riding with her equestrian lover. The two got married in June 2018.
LeVar is known for his role in Star Trek: The Next Generation as Commander Geordi La Forge. You might also remember him from Reading Rainbow.
LeVar played himself on TBBT and came to the apartment after getting an invite on Twitter. LeVar has been married to makeup artist Stephanie Cozart since 1992. She works as a makeup artist for the show The Talk.
She’s married now, but it’s still fun to see her exes. See who Kaley used to date, next…
One of Kaley’s many past love interests is Kevin Zegers. She and Kevin met in 2003 when they co-starred in the movie The Hollow. They dated for a year.
Kevin played Damien in Gossip Girl. He later married Jaime Feld in 2013, and the two had twin baby girls.
Dean Norris has been on a few episodes of TBBT as Colonel Richard Williams. He wanted to know about the navigation and guidance system that the boys were working on.
Everyone knows Dean from his role as Hank in the series Breaking Bad. He has been married for 18 years to Bridget, a lawyer who specializes in transactional law.
Dr. Siebert is married in real life. See who his wife is!
Joshua’s played Dr. Siebert, the president of the university. He is recognized for his roles in The West Wing and Scandal.
In 1996, he married Melissa who used to be a costume director for TV shows. Their two children are Isabel and Avi.
In 2002, Kaley dated actor Thad Luckinbill, who played J.T. for 11 years on The Young and the Restless. The couple dated about a year.
Thad still shows up in TV shows, most recently acting in a film called Only the Brave as Scott Norris.
The NASA astronaut on the show is a real astronaut and married to an understandably worried wife!
Mike played himself on the show, as a NASA astronaut and veteran of two Space Shuttle missions. He would skype with Howard about his next expedition and his duties.
Michael married Carola Pardo in 1989 and they have two kids. Being married to an astronaut wasn’t easy for Carola, being at home with two young children by herself. She prayed for him to come back safely.
Stephen played Dan on TBBT. He interviewed Penny for a sales position at Bernadette’s pharmaceutical company.
Stephen is best known for his role in Office Space and Dodgeball. In 2008, he got married to Romy Rosemont, also an actor. She acted in Glee as Finn’s mother and most recently starred in a series called Beyond.
See next which cast member dated Nikki Reed…
DJ Qualls acted as Toby Loobenfeld, the research assistant who Sheldon assigned to play his non-existent cousin “Leopold.” DJ has also worked as a fashion model and actor. He played the nerdy and awkward Kyle in the Road Trip movies.
DJ dated actress and model Nikki Reed, who is most known as Rosalie Hale in the Twilight Saga.
Josh played the guy who works at the comic book store that the guy like to visit often.
Josh is known as Nelson in the HBO series Silicon Valley. In 2014, he married his fellow actress Meghan Falcone. The couple met at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Meghan has acted in Californication and Foursome.
Which cast member dated Britain’s, Stephen Merchant?
Stephen was Dave Gibbs on the show, who dated Amy for a short amount of time after she broke up with Sheldon.
Stephen is a successful British TV star who co-created the original show The Office and Extras. In 2017, he started dating Mircea, an actress who is currently starring in Episodes, with Matt LeBlanc.
Johnny dated actress Ari Graynor. They broke up after a short while for unknown reasons. You might recognize Ari. She was in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and The Sitter.
Her first gig was as Caitlin Rucker in The Sopranos. Her most recent appearance was in the Showtime series I’m Dying Up Here.
Next, another rumored love affair…
Matt was Howard’s younger half-brother Josh. He’s most famous for his role as Robbie Shapiro on Nickelodeon’s Victorious.
Since 2014, rumor has it that Matt is dating his former co-star Liz Gillies. The two have been seen in selfies together and they talk about how much they love each other.
Johnny and Ariella Nicole have been together since 2015. Fans thought they’re a couple since seeing an unclear picture of him and blonde kissing on New Year’s.
The pair were seen together on a romantic holiday in Maui. We don’t know much about Ariella, but we do hope to get more details in the near future.
Getting the perfect amount of laughs on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is a serious task. One of the most important steps is a cast read-through. Before an episode goes into production, the cast and writers sit down to read the script together.
With only 5 production days assigned per episode, writers need as much time as possible to perfect the script before it goes into filming. Changes might be insignificant, but it comes out to about 20% to 30% of the script will be brand new by the time it goes into filming.
The ‘Big Bang Theory’ has its random cameos from a galaxy far, far away. Someone who’s no stranger to the cameo is Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill. The Jedi even showed up on the show’s season 11 finale to officiate at Sheldon and Amy’s wedding.
The cast members took turns taking photos with the science fiction legend, including Kunal Nayyar, who plays Raj. One super-fan, Mayim Balik, was particularly excited by Hamill’s visit. She made a video shouting, “Mark Hamill’s here! He’s here. He’s on our stage, he shook my hand… I can’t handle it! I can’t sorry… I thought I could keep it together, but I can’t!”
Stephen Hawking was the greatest physicist who ever lived. Period. His book A Brief History of Time brought quantum physics to a wide audience. Hawking even had time for a celebrity cameo on the show.
Funnily enough, he played a self-centered version of himself, irritating Sheldon over his erroneous theories on the Higgs Bosan particle and being a sore loser on Words with Friends, and even not inviting Howard to a pizza party after proving him wrong about ‘The Matrix.’
Only a few shows get to enjoy the longevity that ‘The Big Bang Theory’ has had. And even fewer have managed to keep the on and off again relationship saga between main characters. Think Rachel and Ross in ‘Friends’ or Pam and Jim in ‘The Office.’
The relationship between Penny and Leonard has been a major plot point throughout the show’s long run. By the 200th episode, the couple were still getting over the break up from their Vegas marriage.
Sheldon Cooper is known for being a big ‘Star Trek’ fan. But in real life, Jim Parsons has never seen an episode of the series or its numerous spinoffs. But Parson’s is a convincing Trekkie, especially when his character has dreams about it.
Parson enjoyed hanging out with the late and missed Leonard Nimoy when the actor appeared in episode “The Bath Gift Item Hypothesis.” Here, they’re both giving a Vulcan salute.
Mayim Balik joined as a cast regular in season 4, along with Melissa Rauch. The behinds the scenes relationship with her on-screen husband looks like a good one, where the two are often goofing around on set.
Their on-screen relationship has had its ups and downs, and viewers must have asked themselves what does Amy really see in Sheldon. But there’s a reason for everything!
The wedding of Amy and Shelton had its share of famous faces, including Kathy Bates and magician Teller as Amy’s parents. There was also Jerry O’Connell and Will Wheaton at the congregation. Mark Hammill married the pair as a favor to Howard for finding his dog.
Steve Holland described it: “Mark was everything you’d want him to be. He was hilariously funny… It was really just a dream come true.” The episode also had a bittersweet part when Sheldon received a pocket watch from Stephen Hawking that was sent before his passing.
In the 5th season in the episode titled “The Russian Rocket Reaction,” Leonard decides to attend a party with Sheldon’s enemy, Will Weaton. Not only did the recurring guest star make an appearance but Brent Spiner, who played everyone’s favorite android Data, also joined.
Spiner shows up to the party that the gang go to with Wheaton, continuing the running gag that all former Star Trek actors are desperate for money. Sheldon was reluctant to go but is persuaded by the promise of meeting one of his Star Trek heroes.
Kaley Cuoco broke her leg during a horse riding lesson when the horse Cuoco was riding got scared and threw the actress to the ground. She got up and laughed it off. The horse then turned around and tried to jump over Cuoco and ended up landing on her left leg. Ouch!
Cuoco told Ellen DeGeneres on her show what happened next: “Then I looked, and I’m like, wow, my foot’s facing me… And I was like, that’s not normal.”
The season 5 finale, “The Countdown Reaction,” was out of this world. Literally. Caltech engineer Howard got to fulfil his wish and blast off into space. This only made him insufferable in season 6, but at least he got to have one up on Sheldon.
Next to him was real-life astronaut Mike Massimino. The former astronaut was there to offer technical pointers and he was impressed with the level of detail that went into making the launch scenes as realistic as possible.
David Saltzeberg (right) is the brains behind most of the science that you see on the show. The UCLA professor became the show’s principal scientific advisor. He makes sure the white board equations are correct and actually reflect the current scientific trends.
Fun fact: each script comes to Saltzeberg with the words “Insert Science Here” written where some brainy dialogue needs to go. He’s also on set for each live recording in case the producers have a question or need to check the accuracy of jokes rewritten on the go.
The worlds of Star Trek and Star Wars are two that rarely cross, except when J.J. Abrams directs portions of both franchises. On The Big Bang Theory, fandoms often collide. When Sheldon and Amy got married, Mark Hamill officiated while Sheldon’s arch-nemesis Will Wheaton sat in the audience.
Hamill looks like he’s using some powers from the dark side with the former Starfleet cadet. Maybe Luke’s recent change into a glum figure in ‘The Last Jedi’ rubbed off on Hamill.
The writers’ room is where the team works on scripts until they are a near-perfect mix of jokes and drama. Then there’s the cast read-through, fine tuning it even more. But the only time the producers will know if the jokes are cause for laughter is when they are performed in front of a live audience.
If a joke works, it’s perfect. But if a joke fails, it will be worked on and retested on the audience again. Sometimes different punchlines are tested out or slight tweaks are made.
Jim Parsons got the call to audition for a “new show produced by Chuck Lorre.” He wasn’t familiar with the writer/producer at the time, thinking he would be auditioning for Chuck Woolery, the host of numerous game shows.
In 2014, Parsons explained to David Letterman that he thought he was trying out for a game show, jokingly saying, “I thought, ‘why are they so excited about it?’”
The opening theme song for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is fully engrained in your heads now, so it’s hard to imagine the show without it. “The History of Everything” that was composed and performed by the Bare Naked Ladies is played after the cold open of each episode.
But the first pilot episode was Thomas Dolby’s 1982 hit “She Blinded Me With Science” as the theme song instead. You’re probably glad it was changed though.
For those with a sharp eye, you might have noticed an unexplained typo in the opening credits. In the timeline that scrolls by on the screen while the theme song is playing, the dates read 93,000BC 92,000BC and then 91,0009C.
It may be a simple typo, which can be harmless, but it just doesn’t fit the show! They’re all about getting things perfectly accurate!
Speaking of typos, see some of the funniest ones, here.
Every episode has its own title and maybe you haven’t paid much attention to them, but you might want to know about them. The purpose behind each episode title is to represent a different scientific theory.
In fact, it would be difficult to distinguish the real scientific statements from only the episode names, but if you wanted to, you could figure it out.
Remember Sheldon’s soothing song, “Soft Kitty?” Sure, it sounds original, but in December of 2015, the daughters of a nursery school teacher who wrote an almost-identical verse in the 1930s filed a lawsuit against “The Big Bang Theory.”
Can you believe it? A judge ended up dismissing the case, as the family failed to show they held a copyright on the lyrics.
Even the biggest TBBT fan can’t tell you Penny’s last name. This is because the writers have intentionally withheld the information. In a 2013 interview, executive producer Steve Molaro said,
“What name could we possibly pick that would be satisfying at this point? You know, I don’t think we will [reveal it]. We’re kind of a superstitious lot here. We’ve made it this far without knowing Penny’s last name. I think we’re good not finding out.”
Did you know that the original name of the show wasn’t “The Big Bang Theory?” The original working title was actually “Lenny, Penny and Kenny.” Yes, it’s true. And hilarious.
To pitch the show, co-creators and executive producers, Bill Prady and Chuck Lorre, wrote a script together. They recruited some of their actor friends to play it out for CBS executive Les Moonves, and the rest is history!
Did you know that there’s a Belarusian version of the show? A Belarus production company created a show called “The Theorists,” which was a total copy of “TBBT.”
In February of 2010, Chuck Lorre wrote: “When we brought this to the attention of the Warner Brothers legal department, we were told that it’s next to impossible to sue for copyright infringement in Belarus because the TV production company that is ripping us off is owned and operated by the government of Belarus. Having no other recourse, I’m hoping that this vanity card will be read by the fine folks making ‘The Theorists,’ and, wracked with guilt, they break down and send us some felt hats.” “The Theorists” was canceled shortly after that.
The crew is full of practical jokers that love to have fun on the set. As they should! Show writer Stephen Engel loves to prank his colleagues and, when he succeeds, he would shout, “Bazinga!”
The catchphrase from the writer’s room wasn’t at first written into any scripts, but it eventually became a popular catchphrase on the show. And now you know why!
A researcher in Brazil, Andre Nemesio, has discovered different species of orchid bees. Since some types are endangered, he tends to give the newly-discovered insects catchy names to help attract more attention to bee research.
Nemesio named one of the species “Euglossa bazinga” hoping that the Hollywood name would garner some attention. And you know what? It did! What a smart cookie.
In 2011, scientists discovered a jellyfish off the eastern coast of Australia. Considering it’s so tiny, about the size of a grape, researchers believe it was formerly overlooked as a child of another species.
They called it “Bazinga rieki,” partly because the body resembles a seven-string harp called a bazinga. But also because it had tricked them by hiding in plain sight! Just like a practical joke. Hence, the term bazinga.
Sometimes, actors need to find creative ways to stand out in auditions if they really want to land the part they’re going after. And Melissa Rauch did just that. When she auditioned for the role of Bernadette, she decided to stand out.
How did she stand out? Well, she chose to use a distinctive voice. “That’s actually my real voice and this is my fake voice,” she joked during a Comic-Con panel. Could you imagine Bernadette any other way?
Yes, it’s obvious that Leonard wears glasses. But, if you look closely, you’ll see how his glasses are actually lens-less. Johnny Galecki chose to wear glasses intentionally because he thought they suited Leonard’s character.
So then why are they lens-less you ask? Because the lenses reflected the lights during filming. So Galecki solved the issue by simply just popping out the lenses.
Leonard is the only male main character who wears glasses. And on the flip side, Penny is the only female main character who does not wear glasses. But Mayim Bialik is the only cast member who wears them in real life.
Fun fact for all the newer generations: TBBT isn’t Mayim Bialik’s first rodeo. Those born in the 80s (or earlier) will remember her from her hit TV sitcom ‘Blossom.’
Actor Wil Wheaton has been on “TBBT” more than a dozen times. And in 2010, he took a photo of the coffee table in Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment and shared it on his personal blog.
“This is an example of the attention to detail that is everywhere on every set of ‘The Big Bang Theory,’” he wrote. “It would be really easy to just toss a few random magazines and soda cans there, because it’s very unlikely that they’ll ever be seen in this much detail, but at every level of production, they make a concerted effort to ensure that everything is authentic.”
Do you know why Sheldon and Leonard were given those specific names? Producers chose them to honor the classic “Dick Van Dyke Show” producer Sheldon Leonard. Also, Leonard’s last name is Hofstadter.
That’s because Robert and Douglas Hofstadter (a father and son pair) were notable scientists. And then there’s Leonard’s middle name, Leakey, after the famed paleontologist Louis Leakey.
Do you know what a theremin is? It’s okay, many people don’t. A theremin is a unique musical instrument that is played without being touched, that is until watching “TBBT.” In real life, Parsons is actually a piano player.
But the theremin, Leonard’s instrument of choice, was new to him. But he took on the challenge and learned how to play the electronic instrument for the show. And we’re glad he did!
Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco make a hefty amount per episode. How much? $1 million dollars per. Each episode! That means they will make $23 million for one season. The rest of the cast make a lot, but not the same amount.
The rest of the main cast makes $750,000 per episode. Bialik’s and Rauch’s episode fee went from $20,000 to $100,000 per episode. Parsons, Galecki, Cuoco, Nayyar and Helberg have all agreed to take a $100,000 salary cut for the next two seasons to release $500,000 to raise Bialik and Rauch’s salaries.
Have you been able to notice the difference Sheldon’s shirts have on his mood? Clever “TBBT” fans have noticed that the shade of Sheldon’s shirt often corresponds to his mood.
So if he’s wearing a red t-shirt, it might mean that he’s going to be angry in a scene. And as a superhero fan, Sheldon is particularly fond of his Green Lantern and Flash shirts.
Sheldon Cooper, who loves the Flash, has been giving nods to the character over the years. And the amazing thing is that the Flash is also making his gestures to the show.
Viewers of the TV show “The Flash” have seen the character Cisco Ramon, played by Carlos Valdes, wearing shirts with “TBBT” inside jokes or catchphrases on them. That’s respect!
Ok ladies, and maybe gents: who has noticed that Penny hasn’t changed her purse yet? Fashion fans, or those who just pay attention to detail, will notice that Penny has been carrying the same purse since Season 1, episode 2.
And it’s been going on for 12 years! Apparently, it’s a Lucky Brand slouch hobo bag. She must really love it and has no intention of getting rid of it. Clearly!
Amy Farrah Fowler lives in apartment 314, and do you know why? We assume that it was no accident, considering that the value of pi in decimal form is 3.14.
Wil Wheaton’s house number is 1701, which is also the same as the U.S.S. Enterprise’s hull number on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” Wheaton, of course, was an actor on “TNG” from 1987 to 1994.
Physicist David Saltzberg, the show’s official science advisor, takes his job seriously and admits to being scared of making any mistakes. He said in an interview, “People will randomly meet up with me and say,
‘You know, I really appreciate that the science is correct,’” Saltzberg stated. “And the truth is, I’m just living in terror of making a mistake because I know I’ll get a hundred emails if anything is wrong.”
It’s probably a good thing that a real physicist is on-set for fact checking because Parsons admitted to not being so good at science. He told Time magazine that the one class he failed in college was a science class (meteorology).
Oh, the irony. And on the flip side, Mayim Bialik is a real-life neuroscientist! Maybe she can enlighten Jim on some of her science knowledge.
This was a truly memorable moment for the whole cast and crew of the show. The real-life NASA scientists, who were responsible for the Mars Curiosity rover landing, visited the “Big Bang Theory” set.
The question is which group was more star-struck? The Big Bang crew clearly appreciate NASA, but it looks like NASA is also a fan!
Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment 4A is one of the most recognizable sets on television. The two roommates have mentioned that it’s in Pasadena at 2311 Los Robles, across the street from the Colorado Avenue Chevron station.
Or so they say…While these streets and places d actually exist, the actual apartment is nowhere to be found. So don’t bother looking for an apartment at that exact location.
Adam West guest-starred on the show’s 200th episode. He had the line, “Don’t ring my doorbell or my poodles will go crazy!” during a scene.
After rehearsing his line, West asked executive producer Steve Molaro, “Do you think I could have a tougher dog, like a Rottweiler?” But funnily enough, West had poodles in real life.
