A Makeshift Vietnam

I think most people are aware that the film crew didn’t go to Vietnam to film the movie’s war scenes. It’s Hollywood, after all. And they managed to achieve a convincing landscape and atmosphere, with all the mud, jungles, and swamps. So how did they do it? This may be hard to believe, but the war scenes were filmed on a golf course on Fripp Island, off the coast of South Carolina.

And all that sprawling green of the fields and the wild jungle feel? Well, that was all CGI magic.
