The Royal Wedding

Even before the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last May 19 of this year and the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton last April 29 of 2011, one of the celebrity weddings of all time is the royal wedding of Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles of Wales. The wedding ceremony took place on Wednesday of July 29, 1981, at St. Paul’s Cathedral, which housed around 35,000 wedding guests. Although the wedding has been a traditional English royal wedding, what made it remarkable was because over 750 million people around the world watched the fairytale wedding on global television. Princess Diana Spencer was known as a regular nursery school teacher who married a Royal Prince. Their marriage though didn’t last like the happy endings of fairy tale stories. They separated in 1992 and got divorced in 1996. A year after they got divorced, Princess Diana died in a tragic car accident.
The Ultimate Bachelor Finally Wedded

Known as the ultimate bachelor in Hollywood and an award-winning actor, George Clooney found his leading lady after 21 years from his first marriage. The couple, George Clooney and Amal ALamuddin, a British-Lebanese human rights lawyer, tied the know on September 27, 2014, in seven-star Aman Canal Grande Hotel, Venice, Italy. More than 150 A-list Hollywood superstars attended the wedding. Some of them were U2 singer Bono, Cindy Crawford, Matt Damon and Bill Murray. George and Amal’s wedding was estimated to have cost around $4.6 million. Walter Veltroni, the former mayor of Rome and Clooney’s friend, presided the wedding. Last year, Amal gave birth to their first son, Alexander.
Posh and Becks

Dubbed as Posh and Becks by the media, our next celebrity wedding is between the famous footballer David Beckham and the former posh spice and now a renowned style icon and fashion designer, Victoria Adams. The two got married on July 4, 1999, at Ireland’s Luttrellstown Castle and had a total of 230 celebrity guests at that time. Their wedding was considered one of the most expensive weddings of all time. They spent a whopping $800,000 for their lavish wedding. The couple was anything but lavish and elaborate on their big day. Their wedding took place in the pages of the Superman comics entitled “The Wedding Album,” which happened on December of 1996. Though the number of wedding guests wasn’t mentioned, the fact that many superheroes attended made this remarkable union as one of the celebrity weddings of all time. Imagine for fifty-eight years after Superman met Lois Lane, they finally shared their vows in front of a priest that was drawn to resemble Jerry Siegel, one of Superman’s co-creators. In 2016, DC Comics relaunched its entire comic book line. The new comic line entitled Rebirth featured the continuity of Superman and Lois Lane’s marriage along with their son Jonathan, who is known as Superboy.

The wedding photo of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in Instagram broke records for a reason. The couple had their lavish wedding in Florence Italy on May 24, 2014. The celebrity power couple who seemed like everything they do are over the top, from expensive gifts to the way they talk to each other, had an elaborate and extravagant wedding that was attended by A-list guests like John Legend, Serena Williams, and Steve McQueen. Most Famous of Initials Marriage

Former President John F. Kennedy (known as J.F.K) and former first lady Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy’s (known as Jackie O.) wedding is regarded as one of the most popular and classic weddings of all time. J.F.K started dating Jackie O. when he was still a congressman. They got married a year after J.F.K was elected as a Senator. The classic wedding took place in Newport, Rhode Island on the morning of September 12, 1953. They exchanged vows in front of 1,300 guests in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. The wedding gown of Jackie O. was remembered as one of the most iconic gowns ever made. The dress had an intricate off-the-shoulder design topped with a glorious embroidered veil. Jackie O. became known as the stylish First Lady ever to be in the White House. Though the couple had a happy marriage, it was cut short when President Kennedy was assassinated on November 22 of 1963.

Included in our list of most celebrity weddings of all time is the union between Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, the so-called First Ladies of Lesbianism. Probably the most popular and visible lesbian power couple in the public eye, Ellen and Portia tied the knot on August 16, 2008. The intimate yet straightforward wedding was held in their home in LA, where they live with their four dogs and three cats. Only 19 guests and their pets attended the wedding. The marriage happened after the overturn of the same-sex marriage ban in California, but the Supreme Court, later on, validated their marriage. The couple will be celebrating their nine years of marriage this coming month of August.
The Unconventional Union of Lennon and Ono

One of the most controversial couples in Hollywood, John Lennon, and Yoko Ono had their marriage in the most unconventional way. On March 20, 1969, in the British Consulate Office of Gibraltar, Lennon married Ono. They started dating in 1966 but had to wait until John Lennon’s divorce came through before they could be married. The two were unconventional in many ways. With their dress all white, Yoko wore a white miniskirt and top, floppy hat, knee socks, and plimsolls. The groom also wore a white suit, shirt, and pants. The number of guests wasn’t disclosed, but the ceremony was only a 10-minute long, which was presided by the registrar and attended by the band’s photographer. The relationship between Lennon and Ono was often blamed as the reason why the Beatles disbanded. The controversial couple had a son in 1975, but after five years from the birth of their first son, John Lennon was shot and died in 1980. Yoko Ono is still living today and celebrated their 49th year of marriage last March 29.

Audrey Hepburn was all beauty and glamour when she married her first husband Mel Ferrer on September 25, 1954, in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. The two met at a cocktail party hosted by their mutual friend Gregory Peck. Hepburn then suggested to Ferrer that they star together in a play. This fated meeting led them to star in the play entitled “Ondine,” and later on, they started dating. After eight months, they tied the knot. On Hepburn’s wedding day, she was seen wearing a crown of roses and dressed in one of the most iconic wedding gowns ever, designed by Pierre Balmain. They had a son together, but after 14 years of marriage, they got divorced in 1968.
