Zap some popcorn, brew up some tea, make a cup of coffee, or just do whatever it is you like to do before you sit down to see something good because this is juicy! If the phrases “It’s a dog eat dog world” and “the lifestyles of the rich and famous” had a love child, this would be their baby: celebrity feuds. Check out which celebs have beef with one another!
That’s right, this is a list of all kinds of feuds that celebs have had publicly, whether it be at the MTV music awards, on their Twitter pages, or on live TV. These Hollywood feuds are as dramatic and ridiculous as you probably expect them to be. But that doesn’t take away from the fun of seeing who has beef with who. And you know what’s even more fun? It’s seeing which celebs have more than one feud with other stars (*cough* Kim and Kanye *cough*).
This musical icon feud began in 2002 when Sir Elton John bashed Madonna’s song for the James Bond movie Die Another Day. He said it was “the worst Bond theme ever.” Then in 2004, John ridiculed her during the 2004 Q Awards in London. When Madonna was nominated in the best live act category, John said, “Since when has lip-synching been live? Anyone who lip-synchs in public on stage when you pay 75 pounds to see them should be shot. Thank you very much.” He later apologized.
In 2005, Elton and his partner David Furnish tried to get Madonna to perform at their bachelor party, but she declined. He reportedly told a party guest: “Madonna, the miserable cow, wouldn’t do it.” In response, Madonna’s spokeswoman said, “Madonna wishes Elton all the best, and hopes married life will make him a happier person.”
‘The Good Wife’ actresses Julianna Margulies and co-star Archie Panjabi couldn’t stand working together. According to TV Line, the two didn’t share even one scene together for three seasons. But when their characters came face-to-face again in the season 6 finale, the actresses didn’t. They filmed it separately using stand-ins! It was all edited together in post-production.
In a scene where the two were sharing a drink at a bar, the actresses were superimposed together via CGI. They didn’t actually film the scene together. The series’ creators Robert and Michelle King wouldn’t go “into the gossip of it,” when they were asked why. They referred to the feud between Margulies and Panjabi as “the elephant in the room” that they would not discuss.
Back in 2013, Clooney aired some dirty laundry during an interview with Esquire, saying that Crowe needed to apologize for “insulting the sh*t out of me.” Clooney claimed that he picked up a fight with him for no reason at all. Crowe had stated that George Clooney, Harrison Ford, and Robert De Niro are “sellouts.” Clooney made a joke about starting a band with Ford and De Niro, but Crowe retaliated with, “Who the f*$k does this guy think he is? He’s a Frank Sinatra wannabe.” Apparently, Crowe tried to make amends, but Clooney wasn’t interested.
Clooney told Esquire, “The truth is that [Crowe] did send me a book of poems to apologize for insulting the [expletive] out of me, which he did. He picked a fight with me. He started it for no reason at all. He put out this thing saying, ‘George Clooney, Harrison Ford, and Robert De Niro are sellouts.’ And I put out a statement saying, ‘He’s probably right. And I’m glad he told us, ’cause Bob and Harrison and I were also thinking about starting a band, which would also fall under the heading of bad use of celebrity.'”
Minaj and Carey were both judges on ‘American Idol’ season 12 and famously didn’t get along. During auditions, Minaj stormed out after the two got into a bad fight. And in a 2013 interview with Barbara Walters for ‘Nightline,’ Mariah had her words. She called the set of ‘American Idol’ an “unsafe work environment.” Walters asked her if she was the “b*%ch” that Nicki sang about in a song, Mariah replied with: “Don’t know. I didn’t know she sang. I thought she rapped. Or whatever.”
According to Carey, “Time heals all wounds.” Minaj later complimented Carey. “She’s one of my favorite artists of all time. She’s really shaped a generation of singers. To be on a panel with her, it’s kind of crazy … All the singers come in aspiring to be Mariah, in terms of talent and in terms of career length.”
Rumors had it that Frank Sinatra was upset when Marlon Brando was cast over him for the lead in the film On the Waterfront. Sinatra was also vocal about how he believed that Brando was the world’s most overrated actor. The men were both cast in 1955’s Guys & Dolls, and obviously, tensions escalated. Brando asked Sinatra for help with his singing and dancing, and Sinatra refused, saying he didn’t believe in the “method crap.”
Brando retaliated by purposely messing up the last lines of scenes to throw off Sinatra. It got so bad that the two wouldn’t communicate on set and resorted to third parties to do so. Tensions peaked when Brando was jumped by two thugs, which he blamed on Sinatra and his ties to the mafia. That violent attack did the job because Brando never vocalized his distaste for Sinatra in interviews ever again.
Back in 2009, Gaga and Hilton were BFFs and were out and about together quite often. But then things changed. Gaga told Howard Stern in an interview that Hilton started asking her terrible questions. He was awful; she cried, the cameras were on, he wouldn’t turn them off, yada yada. Gaga said that Hilton apologized in a “sorry, not sorry way” as if he’s allowed to act like that because he’s Perez Hilton.
Gaga claimed that she saw Hilton for who he was, and she was no longer interested in being his friend. She believes that he was angry at her because they don’t hang out anymore. Hilton started a series of tweets mocking Gaga’s interview and calling her a “vampire.”
Remember the days when Paris and LiLo were BFFs? That friendship came crashing down when in May 2006, Lindsay was spotted at L.A.’s Hyde nightclub with Paris’ ex, Stavros Niarchos. After that, Paris made every attempt to overtly hate Lindsay in public. In 2017, when Paris was asked about her and Lindsay’s notorious hang out with Britney Spears, Paris claimed that Lindsay had crashed the outing.
“It was just Brit and I out, and then she just, like, chased us to the car and got in,” Paris said. “She wasn’t invited.” In 2018, Paris proved the feud was still going on by announcing that Lindsay wouldn’t be invited to her wedding with Chris Zylka. Oh, and she also called Lohan a “pathological liar.”
Everyone knows that Eminem is controversial in his songs, but in 2009, when he rapped about Cannon’s then-wife Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon was not having it. In his track, “Bagpipes From Baghdad,” Eminem rapped, “Mariah whatever happened to us? Why did we ever have to break-up?” He went on to include nick: “Nick Cannon, you better back the f— up. I’m not playing, I want her back, you punk.”
Cannon responded with a post on Tumblr: “So, Miss Marshall, I’m going to make you wish you never spoke my name and regret the ungodly things you said about my wife. Your legacy has now been tainted from this day forth! You will now be known as the rapper who lost to corny-ass Nick Cannon!”
This one goes back to 2012 when Bieber and model Miranda Kerr reportedly sent each other a series of flirty text messages after a Victoria’s Secret fashion show. The problem was that Kerr was still married to Orlando Bloom at the time (the couple only divorced in 2013).
Then, in 2014, Bieber and Bloom bumped into each other in Ibiza, Spain. Something happened between the two and Bloom ended up taking a swing at the young pop star. There are conflicting reports as to what exactly led to the punch being thrown, but one thing is for sure – it was about Kerr. What is it about guys getting into fights over girls? And another question – who do you think “won”?
This one goes down as one of the greatest costar feuds of all time. Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty co-starred in the original version of ‘Charmed’ back in the late ’90s and early ’00s. Things were apparently so bad on set that Doherty left the show after season three.
Milano said in 2013 during an interview on Watch What Happens Live: “I don’t know if she got fired, we never really found out what happened. I can tell you that we were on the air with her for three years and there were definitely some rough days.”
In a 2001 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Milano said, “I think it’s hard when you put… two very different people together. I’m very laid-back and passive. I have my Buddha. I come in here and meditate. [Shannen’s] got a lot of energy, she’s very headstrong, she wants to get the job done.”
The actors had a spat on Twitter after Woods posted a photo of a family supporting their son at Pride with the comment: “This is sweet. Wait until this poor kid grows up, realizes what you’ve done, and stuffs both of you dismembered into a freezer in the garage.”
“Utterly ignorant and classless, Mr. Woods. I’m friends with this family. You know not of what you speak, and should be ashamed of yourself,” Harris shot back. Who knew James Woods was so dark?
This isn’t the first time James Woods has made some aggressive and derogatory comments on social media. In May, he made some remarks about CNN anchorman, Anderson Cooper, writing, “As his b*** plug dislodges during a newscast…”
We now come to the next feud between Kim K and another celebrity. This one is with Mrs. Midler herself.
That nude selfie of Kim’s sparked more than one feud, including one with Bette Midler. Midler was compelled to tweet, “Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we’ve never seen, she’s gonna have to swallow the camera.”
And, of course, Kim shot back. “Hey @BetteMidler I know it’s past your bedtime but if you’re still up and reading this send nudes #justkidding,” she tweeted. Then she tweeted, “Hey @BetteMidler, I really didn’t want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me #dejavu.”
Remember how there were two Aunt Vivs on the show? Well, there’s a reason for that. That’s right; the co-stars had a real feud on the ‘The Fresh Prince of Belair.’ Will Smith and Janet Hubert-Whitten (the Original Aunt Viv) had an on-set feud in the ’90s. The tension between the two led to her being replaced.
Hubert-Whitten has said once, ‘I’ve been in the business for 10 years and this snot-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.’ No matter what, to her, I’m just the Antichrist.” In 2011, the feud was still going on. She told TMZ that she would never do a ‘Fresh Prince’ reunion. Why? Because she’ll “never do anything with an a**hole like Will Smith.” Ouch.
Let’s stay in the 90s for a moment and see Brandy and Monica’s infamous beef. Their 1998 Grammy-winning duet “The Boy Is Mine” sparked rumors of real-life beef, which did indeed turn out to be true. Monica admitted to getting in a physical fight with Brandy and later apologized.
In 2012, the singers made a second duet called “It All Belongs To Me,” but in 2016, the beef was on again. In September 2016, Monica fans started the #SoGoneChallenge where they posted their own renditions of Monica’s 2003 hit “So Gone.” When Brandy was asked to participate, she replied with “Chile, bye.” Monica gave an interview and made it seem like the feud isn’t going to be resolved anytime soon.
This feud goes back to 2015 when Cyrus called out Minaj during an interview with the New York Times. Then, in August of the same year, Minaj called Cyrus out on live TV during the MTV VMAs. “And now back to this b*&ch that had a lot to say about me in the press. Miley, what’s good?” She then mouthed the words: “Don’t play with me, b*%ch.”
Miley responded (also on live TV) with, “Hey, we are all in this industry, and we all do interviews and say sh*%. Nicki, congratuf*$klations.” It doesn’t look like they’ve made up yet.
The latest on the two: Nicki responded to one of Miley’s insults, calling her a piece of Perdue chicken. “A Perdue chicken can never talk s**t about queens,” she says. “That’s what she did….In the first place, she disrespected me in a magazine article for no reason.”
Kanye West is another celebrity who finds himself in feuds all the time. But, let’s start with what might be one of the biggest and talked about feuds. And it goes back to 2009, when Kanye jumped up on stage at the 2009 VMAs, interrupting Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video. In response to the incident, Taylor released what is arguably one of her worst songs, “Innocent.”
Their relationship seemed to have mended as they even hugged at awards shows. But then in 2016, Kanye’s song “Famous” referenced Taylor in a derogatory way. Taylor said she never approved the lyric, but Kim got involved and leaked the documents that proved the opposite. This is going to be an ongoing feud for sure.
When it comes to female costars who hate each other, ‘Sex and the City’ costars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall take the cake. The roots go back to when Cattrall was pissed off when SJP was promoted to executive producer. Cattrall kept things professional and even did two of the SATC movies, but when it came to talks about ‘Sex and the City 3,’ Cattrall gave it a “Hard pass.”
In the media, Cattrall was blamed for the project not coming to fruition. In 2017, she took to Twitter and a tell-all interview with Piers Morgan and publicly called out SJP for the first time. In 2018, Cattrall’s brother died to which SJP posted some Instagram empathy. But Cattrall retaliated with a post of her own asking Parker to leave her and her family alone once and for all.
What? Another feud between Kim K and someone in Hollywood? It couldn’t be! I hope you sense my sarcasm by now.
Tyson took to Instagram to body-shame Kim in July 2018. “Sorry I Don’t care for it personally. She is not real, doctor f—ked up on her right hip,” and added a throw-up emoji. Kardashian was quick to reply (as always) and said: “Sis we all know why you don’t care for it.”
But that “sis” part got some backlash as people started saying Kim was homophobic. Really, people, it never ends. Anyway, after calling Tyson “lame” a lot on her appearance on 92.3’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood, she said she’s by no means homophobic because all her best friends are gay.
During an interview in 2017, The ‘Megyn Kelly Today’ host asked Oscar-winner Jane Fonda about her experience with plastic surgery. Fonda was visibly taken aback and responded with, “We really want to talk about that now?” Kelly has said that Fonda “appears to be fixated on an exchange I had with her months ago.” She also called Fonda “Hanoi Jane” because of her controversial trip to the city during the Vietnam War.
Fonda is a prominent antiwar activist. She traveled to Hanoi in July 1972, where she met seven POWs and made radio announcements begging American pilots to stop bombings. The image of her with North Vietnamese troops became a scandal and enraged American veterans. She later apologized for the photo.
In 2011, during an appearance on ‘Fashion Police,’ Ciara gossiped about attending a party with Rihanna. She said her fellow singer “wasn’t the nicest.” RiRi replied on a Twitter post with: “My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u?” In 2013, Ciara decided to double down on the feud by saying, “I don’t know what her problem is. I think she’s nuts right now. Like, whatever’s going on, because for me, it doesn’t make any sense.”
Recently, Rihanna enjoyed a karaoke session on Tuesday by choosing CiCi’s breakout single, Goodies. She must have had the best time in Singapore on her Fenty Beauty business trip, because Rihanna let her hair down and ultimately put an end to their long-running feud.
Katherine Heigl and Shonda Rhimes worked with each other on ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ Heigl made a big statement in 2008, when she chose to withdraw from consideration from the Emmys and then blamed the show’s writing for her decision. Two years later, Rhimes spoke of Heigl’s remarks with Oprah Winfrey, saying, “On some level, it stung and on some level I was not surprised. When people show you who they are, believe them.”
Nearly a decade later, Heigl went on Howard Stern’s radio show to discuss the blowback. She backpedaled her 2008 statements, explaining that she never meant to criticize the “material” on Grey’s Anatomy as much as her performance. “I wasn’t feeling good about my work that season, no,” said Heigl.
Their feud started in 2013 when Stewart got mean about Paltrow’s lifestyle brand Goop during an interview. “She wants to be a lifestyle arbiter. Fine. Good. I think I started this whole category of lifestyle,” Stewart remarked. In 2014, Stewart mocked Paltrow’s announcement of “conscious uncoupling” with a spread she called “Conscious Coupling” in her November 2014 issue of Martha Stewart Living.
Paltrow responded with a recipe on her website for a “Jailbird Cake”, a reference to Martha Stewart’s time behind bars. Martha Stewart said, “I don’t follow Goop. Sometimes I look at products that she’s selling … I wish every young entrepreneur well and I hope that there are many, many, many different kinds of entrepreneurs … if they’re movie stars or hardworking women like I am, who are not movie stars. If they have a good idea, I want them to be able to succeed. So, good luck, Gwyneth.”
Taylor had another big industry feud and this time it was with fellow pop star Katy Perry. According to Taylor, it started when Katy tried to “sabotage” her Red tour. According to what Taylor told Rolling Stone, she tried to hire a bunch of people out from under her. And Taylor admits to not being confrontational, which means she has to “Avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
Before Swift’s first night on her Reputation world tour in 2018, Perry called an end to their feud. She sent an actual olive branch with a note, which Swift posted about on her Instagram story. “Hey old friend, I’ve been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and hurt feelings between us…” the handwritten note began.
Considering that the Queen of Mean, Joan Rivers and Paltrow, who we’ve all seen has an edge to her, it’s no surprise that the two blondes had a feud with each other. Have you heard about this one? “Good girl” Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t so “good” after all! Joan Rivers had beef with her back in 2014. During an interview on ‘Watch What Happens Live,’ Rivers spoke about Paltrow.
“The worst criticism was, ugh, Gwyneth Paltrow. She came and yelled at us, but she stood up. She can’t sit down cause she’s got a stick up her rear end.” Then in an interview where they spoke of Botox, Paltrow had said, “I won’t do Botox again, because I looked crazy. I looked like Joan Rivers!”
Remember when I told you that there would be celebs on this list that keep popping up? We have Kim, Kanye, Paltrow, and also Nicki Minaj. She’s one of the more popular stars on this list. And this time, she had a feud with a fellow rapper. Nicki and Cardi were said to be in a feud when Cardi’s hit, “Bodack Yellow,” took off.
Both rappers denied any bad blood, but that facade fell apart when they got into a physical fight at Harper’s Bazaar Icons Party. Addressing the mark on Cardi’s forehead after the fight, Nicki explained that fans were wrong for thinking that Cardi had been bruised by security. Nicki said that the mark came from Love and Hip Hop star Rah Ali.
These exes got into a heated exchange on Twitter when Mod joked about auctioning off Thorne’s stuff on eBay. “I still have it and I figure if she doesn’t get it soon I’m gonna have a really, really poppin’ eBay site,” he said. The Disney alum replied with “Awww looks like moddy really wants some press. #Hungry. Also, didn’t u call the cops on me when I wanted my computer? U p–sy.” Ugh, Twitter feuds, right?
Bella and Mod started dating while Bella was still dating a dude named Tana (they were in a polyamorous relationship). The couple had stayed together for a few more months after Bella and Tana broke up, but they eventually separated in April. And the rest is history.
The rapper 50 Cent got into some Hollywood drama with LaLa Kent, the Vanderpump Rules star in April when he posted a clip of LaLa revealing that Emmett, a movie producer, bought her a Range Rover and other “really expensive gifts” after they slept together for the first time.
After the two exchanged insults on social media, 50 Cent then revealed that Emmett (who he worked with on STARZ’s Power) owed him $1 million. He demanded that Emmet pay him back or he would continue posting about Kent.
50 Cent later posted: “I got my money, so I have no problem with @randallemmettfilms, in fact, I’m wishing him and his family a very blessed day. Positive vibes now guys. LOL.”
This is one of the OG celebrity feuds – the bad blood between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. It was so intense that it inspired the first season of ‘Ryan Murphy’s Feud.’ In 1935, they both fell in love with the same man, actor Franchot Tone. Crawford swooped in and quickly married him.
Sh*t went down on the set of their 1962 film ‘Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?’ The filming was apparently full of drama and things only got worse when Davis was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her performance. Crawford ended up accepting the Best Actress award that same night on behalf of Anne Bancroft, who won over Davis. Crawford died in 1977 and Davis in 1989. The feud was never resolved.
The actresses took it to Twitter to battle it out during the 2016 presidential election. Sarandon supported Bernie Sanders while Messing rooted for Hillary Clinton. “She’s not very well informed and so sometimes she gets in areas that she really hasn’t thought through, maybe?” Sarandon said during ‘Watch What Happens Live’ in May 2017.
Messing added fuel to the fire by tweeting in 2018: “STFU SUSAN. Oh yes, PLEASE let’s give Trump CREDIT.” Sarandon responded with: “Debs, before you get yourself all self-righteous try clicking on the video and listening to what I actually say.” Messing said, “You were dead WRONG running around bellowing that (Clinton) was more dangerous … Only a self-righteous, narcissist would continue to spout off and not – in the face of Americans’ pain and agony -be contrite and apologize for your part in this catastrophe. But, you do you, Susan.”
Amber Rose doesn’t have a great relationship with anyone in the KarJenner fam jam, but her feud with Khloé is full of drama. In 2015, Amber talked about Kylie Jenner on her appearance on ‘The Breakfast Club’ radio show. She called her a baby and said Tyga should be ashamed of himself. Khloé immediately jumped in to Kylie’s defense, saying “I was a stripper since I was 15 years old.” Amber responded by implying that Robert Kardashian Sr. isn’t Khloé’s real father.
Rose posted a supportive message on her Instagram story on April 10, 2018: “I know we’ve had our differences in the past but my heart is broken for you sis. Smh no one deserves to feel that pain especially during such a sensitive time. God bless you and your baby.”
Stacy London and Clinton Kelly made us love them on ‘What Not to Wear.’ I was a personal fan of the show. They even seemed like best friends, but that wasn’t always the case. In 2017, Clinton released a memoir called “I Hate Everyone, Except You,” where he hinted at some tension between them. He said they both loved and hated each other.
Then London blocked him on social media, suggesting that she took issue with some of what he wrote in his memoir. London announced that she had unblocked a group of people on social media. “I can’t stop people from the way they behave. I can’t stop them from being angry with me, hurtful to me, or indifferent to me,” she stated.
LC and Heidi were BFFs until 2007, when Heidi’s then-boyfriend and now-husband, Spencer Pratt, started a rumor that Lauren and her ex-boyfriend, Jason Wahler, made a sex tape. Their friendship fell apart and Lauren cut off contact with her completely after her ‘Hills’ duties were done.
Despite all the years gone by, the feud seems to be going strong. “Lauren is a cold-hearted killer,” Spencer said in 2015. “It looks like he’s still speaking for and standing up for Heidi.
“I’d be willing to move forward and put things behind us,” Montag explained in an interview. “We would never be the way that we were again, but it would be fun to maybe catch up one day and be mature and be like, ‘Hey that was crazy, I wish you the best,’ type-of-thing. But I don’t think she would ever be ready for that.”
Just judging by the look you see here on Naya’s face, I can tell that she has a real edge to her and possibly gets really heated. Those eyes! The ‘Glee’ costars didn’t get along on the set. Sources from the show said the two talked behind each other’s backs “a lot,” which only means that Glee was more like a real high school than we thought.
One source told Us Weekly that “Naya is jealous that Lea is the show’s main star… There is a lot of sighing and eye-rolling between them.” Rivera wrote about it in her memoir, “Sorry Not Sorry,” saying Lea “sensitive, though, and it seemed like she blamed me for anything and everything that went wrong.”
In 2015, ex-Playboy playmate, ‘Girls Next Door’ star, and Hugh Hefner girlfriend Holly Madison published a memoir called “Down the Rabbit Hole.” She wrote claims about Hefner and included less-than-flattering commentary on the other girls next door/girlfriends. Kendra Wilkinson took issue with Madison’s book. But she and Madison already had a rocky history. Wilkinson bashed Madison by saying that she only married Hefner for his money.
Holly is going to release a second memoir, The Vegas Diaries, which focuses on her life after getting away from the Playboy Mansion. But that doesn’t mean she’s staying quiet about what life with Hugh Hefner was like. In an interview with People, she said, “When I arrived, I saw women tell lies about other women and get them kicked out. I got scared really fast.”
Huston slammed Weaver’s 2019 film ‘Poms’ in an interview with Vulture. She said that she’s looking for movies that impress her. “An old-lady cheerleader movie. I don’t like that kind of thing.” Weaver swung back in an interview with Vanity Fair when she said, “Well, she can go f–k herself.” It’s a bit childish if you ask me, but then again which of these feuds isn’t?
Weaver feels guilty about making such remarks about Huston. “Sometimes my filter drops, and my filter dropped that day,” Weaver told AM to DM. “I just got a bit cross—‘cross’ being the operative word. I got incensed. I saw red. I lose my temper once a year, and that was it. I do admire Anjelica Huston. I don’t think she’s a shithead. I think she’s a wonderful actress and a really nice woman.”
The ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ star went after favorites Amanda Stanton, Tanner Tolbert, Nick Viall, and Dean Unglert after they spoke of his behavior in season 5. Leo was under fire for lashing out at Joe Amiable during one of the rose ceremonies and storming off the beach in Mexico. The reality star exchanged a war of words with the other contestants after they judged his actions.
According to Amanda, Leo direct messaged her calling her a “piece of sh&t.” He snapped at Nick and threatened to fight both Tanner and Dean.
Leandro Fabian Dottavio is also a Hollywood stuntman and comedian. He performed in well known American movies and TV shows before going on to be a contestant on The Bachelorette’s 14th season in 2018.
Former ‘One Direction’ member had a brawl with the ‘Good Morning Britain’ cohost in March 2019. Morgan said that Kylie Jenner doesn’t deserve the Forbes title of “youngest-ever self-made billionaire,” since her fame came from her sister Kim’s sex tape. Payne wrote: “At least @KylieJenner has her own business she built herself why not congratulate someone for once instead of knocking people.”
Morgan then criticized Payne’s grammar and the singer wrote, “Sorry could you say it louder from the back of the line of irrelevant people please.” Morgan isn’t the only one questioning the accuracy of the term “self-made” when it comes to Kylie. When it was first predicted by Forbes that she would become the youngest “self-made” billionaire ever, many people questioned the use of the term “self-made” and have continued to do so after the news was official.
In 2013, the ‘Watch What Happens Live’ host said that the former ‘Biggest Loser’ trainer was his least favorite guest. Five years later, Michaels said that Cohen “hates women” and slammed the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise. He denied the accusation and fired back with “This is the woman who screamed at people for a living on The Biggest Loser. She should stay in her own lane.”
The feud between them has been longstanding, but recently, Michaels has talked a lot about her first awful meeting with Cohen. She told Us Weekly, “We’ve not been friendly for years.” She explained that when she went on his show, Cohen acted “condescending and unprofessional” even though she just assumed that when they met they would be “gay homies.”
Michael Jackson has been in the news lately for different reasons. But in the 80s, he was in the news for his feud with Prince. Prince first faced off when both of their 1982 albums – “1999” and “Thriller” – rivaled each other on the charts. From that point on, the two openly sparred, dueling both on- and off-stage. People saw it as a competition between Jackson’s mainstream, mass appeal, and Prince’s artistry.
The feud came in the form of subliminal lyrics to heated ping-pong battles. The two were often in opposition. The peak was when Prince turned down Wesley Snipes’ role in MJ’s 1987 “Bad” video. He then played his bass guitar directly in front of Jackson’s face at one of his concerts, according to a story artist Will.i.am told on The Graham Norton Show.
Seems like feuds in the music industry is like milk in coffee – the two just go hand in hand. According to the former Guns ‘N Roses manager, Doug Goldstein, their beef began when Slash said he was going to collaborate with Michael Jackson in 1991. Axl Rose (who has spoken out about the sexual abuse he suffered as a child) took issue with Slash working with MJ.
Their feud peeked when Slash left the band for good in 1996. During a 2015 interview with CBS, Slash revealed that he and Rose were speaking again. “It’s very cool at this point,” he said. “You know, let some of that, sort of, negative…dispel some of that negative stuff that was going on for so long.”
A battle of the blondes went down when Courtney Love crashed Madonna’s interview at the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards. Courtney Love made threw her compact and her shoe onto the stage, then joined the interview by rambling about Birkenstocks and Alanis Morrissett.
During the interview, Madonna maliciously mentioned how “Courtney Love is in dire need of attention right now.” Madonna slammed Love and her VMAs shenanigans during a 1996 interview with Spin, saying that “every chance she gets, she slags me off in the press. Years ago, she probably admired me and looked up to me, and now I’m like a parent to her or something, and she wants to destroy me. So, that’s what I think about Courtney.”
In 1955, actress Debbie Reynolds married the singer Eddie Fisher while Elizabeth Taylor married producer Mike Todd in 1957. The two couples were very close, and Reynolds was even Taylor’s maid of honor. Sadly, Todd died in a plane crash in 1958, and Fisher comforted Taylor. The thing is the two eventually fell in love, and an affair began. Reynolds was the last person to find out and said, “She liked him well enough to take him without invitation.”
Reynolds and Fisher later divorced, and he went on to marry Elizabeth in 1959. But Taylor later fell in love with Richard Burton and the two separated in 1965. The ladies eventually reconciled in 1966 when they were on a cruise.
As I said, beef in the music industry comes with the package. And when it comes to rap music and rappers, there’s no such thing as no beef. The beef between the two rappers has been brewing since the early 2010s. For years, they swapped insults, but one rhyme from Drake’s 2016 track “Two Birds, One Stone” drew a line in the sand. He basically questioned the authenticity of Pusha T’s drug-dealing stories.
Pusha-T responded in 2018 with the release of his Kanye-produced album Daytona, and in the final track “Infrared,” he includes a reference to Drake having used ghostwriters. That very same day, Drake released “Duppy Freestyle,” which aims at both Pusha T and Kanye. The duo went back and forth and still haven’t reconciled.
While Kim has shown up on this list more than once, she’s not the only Kardashian that likes to get caught up in drama. Kardashian fans were shocked to see the news of Khloe Kardashian’s baby daddy Tristan Thompson had cheated on her with Kylie Jenner’s best friend, Jordyn Woods. After a back and forth duel on social media, where Kardashian claimed that Woods was responsible for her “family being ruined,” Woods decided to clear the air.
On Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith, Woods spoke about it and admitted that she handled the situation wrong after Thompson kissed her. Woods has moved on ever since, but summer 2019 episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians are reigniting the fire.
Actress Bella Thorne decided posted her own nude photos instead of letting a hacker continue to blackmail her with them. While she got praise for the bold move, Whoopi Goldberg made a point on The View, saying that celebrities should anticipate being hacked and avoid taking nude photos altogether. Thorne didn’t appreciate the criticism and posted an emotional response to Goldberg, saying “shame on you,” and comparing her hacking experience to a sexual assault. Goldberg didn’t respond.
“If you’re famous, I don’t care how old you are. You don’t take nude pictures of yourself,” Goldberg said on her show. “Once you take that picture, it goes into the cloud and it’s available to any hacker who wants it, and if you don’t know that in 2019 that this is an issue, I’m sorry. You don’t get to do that.”
“It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends,” Hilton stated in a statement in 2005. “Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it.” Apparently, Richie was jealous of all the attention Hilton was getting from the media and angry that she wasn’t getting invited to some of Hilton’s events.
Richie had a party to “celebrate” Hilton’s appearance on SNL, followed by a screening of her notorious 2003 sex tape. Obviously, Paris was hurt. But later in 2014, Richie told Andy Cohen on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” that even though they don’t talk every day, she still considers her one of her very good friends.
Next up, see which 80s stars beefed it up…
Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere were supposed to star together in the 1974 movie “The Lords of Flatbush” until the two just weren’t getting along on the set. Gere’s role was re-cast. “We never hit it off. He would strut around in his oversized motorcycle jacket like he was the baddest knight at the round table,” Stallone described.
The two actors also got into a physical fight…over chicken grease. “I was eating a hot dog, and Richard climbs in with a half a chicken covered in mustard with grease nearly dripping out of the aluminum wrapper,” Sylvester explained. It escalated, and after some grease landed on his thigh, Stallone elbowed him in the side of the head and pushed him out of the car.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel are two macho stars of the ‘Fast and the Furious’ movies. While the movies about dudes and fast cars are all about macho bromance, in real-life, Johnson and Diesel are far from bros.
Rumors have been floating around since 2016 that the two costars don’t get along. The source of the rumors? A now-deleted Instagram post made by Johnson about his “candy ass” male costar. Johnson confirmed that he and Diesel did not film scenes together. “Vin and I had a few discussions, including an important face-to-face in my trailer,” Johnson revealed to Rolling Stone.
But you might be happy to hear (or not) that the two have reconciled and even consider each other friends now.
Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan’s feud started over Aaron Carter back in 2003. Duff met Carter on the set of “Lizzie McGuire” in 2001 and dated him for a year and a half. Carter left Duff to be with Lohan, and the reason was reportedly out of boredom. Carter then went back to Duff and Lohan even accused her of stealing her boyfriend.
Duff denied the accusation to Allure Magazine in 2008, saying “I’ve never stolen anyone’s boyfriend! I don’t know how you do that!”
Hilary Duff loves herself a feud. When Us Weekly reviewed teen starlet rivalries, Duff feuded with many of her peers. She wrote mean pop songs about Nicole Richie, for instance, after Richie started dating her ex-boyfriend Joel Madden.
When Johnny Carson announced that he was leaving NBC’s “The Tonight Show” in 1992, everyone figured the obvious replacement would be David Letterman. But NBC gave the show to Jay Leno instead. There was bad blood after Letterman delivered a backhanded compliment that Leno was both one of the funniest and most insecure people he knew. After many years, the two recently hinted at a possible truce.
Letterman is hardly cuddly. He almost never gives interviews and is famously prickly both on-camera and off. In his early years on his show, he struggled to hide his dislike for guests like Cher. But this made his fans love him even more. They saw him as genuine. That was why he was forgiven after an embarrassing sex scandal with female staffers.
Sinead O’Connor, the singer who made a name for herself as quite the controversial figure, threatened to not perform at a New Jersey concert venue because she didn’t want to sing the requested national anthem. According to the LA Times, she said she “has a policy of not having national anthems played before my concerts in any country, including my own, because they have nothing to do with music in general.”
The very next night after her performance, Frank Sinatra came on the stage and told his audience, “I’d like to kick her in the a–!” O’Connor later told Esquire Magazine in 1991, “I can’t hit this man back, he’s like 78 years of age, and I’d probably kill him.”
Joan Rivers and Johnny Carson were friendly back when Rivers would guest-host “The Tonight Show.” In 1983, Rivers became the permanent guest-host for the next three years. Fox then offered Rivers her own late-night talk show, to which she accepted.
Carson was furious because she never sought his advice and had to find out about her new show from a televised conference. Rivers denied that that was the case. “The first person I called was Johnny, and he hung up on me — and never, ever spoke to me again. And then denied that I called him. I couldn’t figure it out. I would see him in a restaurant and go over and say hello. He wouldn’t talk to me,” she explained to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the ’90s, Tyra Banks was pitted against supermodel Naomi Campbell when she started in the modeling industry. The industry was basically saying, ‘Look out Naomi Campbell, here comes Tyra Banks!’ Banks claimed that Campbell did indeed bully her, saying nasty things to her during runway shows and even getting her fired from jobs. Campbell claimed to not remember those times. But the two worked out their differences since then.
“It wasn’t a rivalry,” Banks clarified in an interview. “I’m very sensitive to that word because a rivalry is between two equals to me whereas one was very dominant, she was a supermodel, and I was just this new girl that had got on a plane from Paris and was studying fashion and magazines.”
In 2016, as you probably remember, Kim posted a nude selfie on Twitter. Turns out Chloë wasn’t feeling it and tweeted to Kim: “I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.”
Kim’s response: “Let’s all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is. Your nylon cover is cute boo.” Ouch. Chloë didn’t tweet back, but she made it clear that she stood by her comments in a 2016 interview with Glamour.
Khloé wasn’t having it when she read Moretz’s tweets directed at Kim. So, Khloé posted a photo that figured was of Moretz with her backside exposed at the beach. She tweeted, “Is this the a**h*le you’re referring to?”
While on the set of “I Love Trouble” in 1994, Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte reportedly hated each other. They had to film their scenes separately and used stand-ins to do romantic scenes. Journalist Judy Brennan wrote that “Roberts reportedly wasn’t thrilled with Nolte’s machismo, so she would deride and insult her co-star. Some on the set claim that he became so annoyed with her attitude that he would do things to agitate her even more.”
In an interview with the New York Times, Roberts explained how from the moment they met, they gave each other a hard time and naturally got on each other’s nerves. She called him disgusting, and he said she’s not a nice person. The two are clearly not a fan of each other.
Selma Blair was fired from the movie “Anger Management” after fighting with Charlie Sheen. Blair had issues with Sheen’s work ethic, and Sheen retaliated by getting her fired via a nasty text in which he called her a “c–t.” During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” in 2017, Sheen commented on both Blair and his former “Two and a Half Men” co-star Jenny McCarthy.
“I’d like to mash those two together and then kick them to the curb. They deserve each other.”
For those who don’t know, Selma Blair was recently diagnosed with the debilitating illness MS, which she spoke about in an interview with the Independent. She wanted to be open about her diagnosis so that “people wouldn’t think that I was drunk.”
To keep it in the family, let’s see one of Kanye West’s feuds, this one being with Jay Z. West complained about his ex pal Jay-Z at a 2016 concert, claiming the rapper never called him after Kim was robbed at gunpoint in Paris. And even at another concert, he kept complaining about Jay Z, Beyoncé, and even their kids (how they don’t have play dates with his kids).
Jay Z addressed the beef in an interview the next year with Rap Radar podcast, saying that his lyrics on his 2017 album were “not a diss” to West, but he did admit that there were hard feelings between the two. “What really hurt me was you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it,” Jay-Z said. “You brought my family into it; now it’s a problem with me. That’s a real, real problem. And he knows it’s a problem.”
A classic sibling rivalry in Hollywood history featured sisters Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine. The two girls constantly fought growing up, which was mostly due to the fact that Joan believed their mom favored Olivia. When Olivia became an actress, Fontaine did too. Their mother then forced Joan to come up with a different last name.
In 1942, the sisters were nominated for an Oscar for lead actress, and only Joan won. Olivia got her revenge when she won an Oscar in 1946. The two stopped talking in 1975 after a disagreement over their mother’s cancer treatment. The rivalry stayed intact until the death of Fontaine in 2013, at the age of 96.
Well, that’s it for now. But by no means is that the end of celeb feuds. We’ll have more to come!
