Photos are “Graven Images”
Considering how consumed the world is with technology, the Amish grew relatively accustomed to seeing tourists who want to take photos of them, but that doesn’t really mean that they like it.

Many times, Amish people don’t want to be photographed, as they consider a picture to be a “graven image.” In the Bible, graven images are forbidden, which the Amish see as a form of vanity. But the more lenient Amish will often think it’s okay to be photographed “naturally.”
