The Believer’s Baptism
Infants are too young to make their own decision to be baptized, so a “believer’s baptism” requires the person to wait until adulthood to mark the occasion. Baptisms usually don’t occur until the ages of 18 to 23.
What happens: the one getting baptized sits with one hand over his or her face as a symbol of humility, and he or she “submits” themselves to the church. They’re asked three questions: Can they renounce the devil? Can they commit to Christ and His church? And can they live obediently and submissively according to the order of the world?
