Bad Grades and a Passion For Journalism
Then, after graduating high school, he went on to study political science at the University of Texas (during the years 1933 – 1935). Cronkite had terrible grades, but still kept his passion for journalism alive.
To help pay tuition, Cronkite worked as a correspondent for a Houston newspaper – the Houston Press. He also worked as a freelance writer and became a sports presenter for a local radio station.
