The plan backfires, and Andy’s mother dies. A plan to stop blackmail sets the brothers further on the path of destruction. Meanwhile, their father investigates the robbery, not knowing his sons were responsible for it.

The film was a commercial and critical success. It has appeared on several critics’ top lists, including 2007’s ten most influential American films. Though it won the American Film Institute Award in 2007, Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Cast, and a Gotham Award. But for some reason, this film is rarely noted.
