Ever heard the phrase “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”? Well, a baby boomer girl’s, that is. Their generation was convinced that owning these incredibly expensive and “exclusive” diamonds was the validation they needed in society.
But they didn’t realize that diamonds are actually not that expensive or uncommon. The only thing that makes them so is that they are very slowly released into the market, making them seem rare. And what do millennials think? Well, that an exorbitantly priced stone gutted out from the earth by African slave labor isn’t all that romantic.
