She Dropped Out of High School
Jessica briefly attended J. J Pearce High School in Texas as a teenager. Her striking voice and musical talent caught the attention of Tommy Mottola, head of Columbia Records, and Mariah Carey’s husband at the time. At the age of 16, she signed a recording contract with Columbia Records. She dropped out of high school to concentrate on her career. She later went on to earn her GED. In 1999, she burst into the music scene and released her debut studio album, Sweet Kisses. The album was a massive hit and sold over four million copies worldwide.
