Given the fact that the human body evolved on Earth in a gravitational environment, the human body does not react the same in space as it does on our home planet. In zero gravity the body is virtually weightless, almost like it is when you are floating in the water.

Because your body is weightless, your muscles don’t metabolize the same as they would in a gravitational biome. Thus, NASA needed to invent a way for astronauts to exercise in space so their body’s stay active and healthy. So, you can thank outer space for being able to exercise at home!
