Seawolf-Class Attack Submarine SSN
One Seawolf-class submarine costs a reported $3 billion to build, and it’s designed to combat Soviet ballistic missile submarines. The U.S. Navy originally planned on making 29 of them, but after the Cold War ended, they reduced the budget for attack submarines dramatically, and only three ended up being built.
Seawolf submarines are larger, faster, and quieter than Los Angeles-class submarines. They also carry twice as many torpedo tubes and a lot more weapons, including 50 Tomahawk land attack missiles and 8 torpedo tubes. Underwater, this sub carries 9,138 tons with a speed of 35 knots.
