The Voice of the Grinch
Frankenstein’s Monster, Boris Karloff, was the voice of the Grinch and the narration for the film. Seuss was a little worried when casting him because he thought his voice was too scary for kids. The sound crew went back to the Grinch’s parts to remove all of the high tones in Karloff’s voice.
Tony the Tiger, who was voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft, is the voice behind the song “ You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch .” But he didn’t receive any credit on screen.Dr. Seuss wrote to the columnists in every major U.S. newspaper to tell them exactly who sung the song.
