Born in Tehran, Iran on July 10th,
    1983, Golshifteh Farahani is an
actress who is the daughter of actor
    and theater director Behzad
Farahani and the sister of actress
    Shaghayegh Farahani.  Golshifteh
    began studying music and playing
the piano at the young age of five
and by age 12, she found herself in
    music school and later gained
    admittance to the prestigious
    Vienna Conservatory.

At the age of 14, Farahani was cast
as the lead in Dariush Mehrjui's The
Pear Tree as the mysterious young
girl, M, for which she would win the
Crystal Roc for Best Actress from the International Section of the 16th Fajr International Film
Festival in Tehran.  This led Farahani to choose acting over a career in music, and she never
left to go to the Vienna Conservatory.

Since then, Farahani has acted in many films, winning several awards.  Among these include
Farahani’s first major Hollywood film playing the romantic lead opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in
Ridley Scott's 2008 political thriller Body of Lies.
